Sailing Trimarans · Short-Handed Sailing: YachtCodex lists 6 models, 9.0–12.9 m long. The builders with the most are Dragonfly Trimarans (4) and NEEL Trimarans (2). The largest in production is the NEEL 43 (12.9 m); the shallowest draft is the Dragonfly 28's (0.40 m).
Sailing Trimarans
A main hull with a float either side: most of the weight in the middle, most of the stability at the ends of the beams. A trimaran carries its accommodation in one hull rather than two, which puts the living space on one level and keeps the crew together, and it is generally the quickest of the three forms for a given length. It is also the rarest in production, which is why this is the shortest list on the site.
Short-Handed Sailing
Sailing yachts a couple or a singlehander can manage without a crew. The criteria are a length overall between 9 and 14.5 metres -- the familiar advice that two people can handle up to about 45 feet -- and an upwind sail area of 110 square metres or less, or, where no upwind area is published, a mainsail of 60 square metres or less; racers are excluded. Where a boat offers a self-tacking jib or in-mast furling, its own page records that among the reasons it is here.
