Power Catamarans

Two hulls under power. The reasons are the sailing catamaran's reasons minus the rig: a level platform, shallow draft, and deck space that a single hull of the same length cannot offer. Two slender hulls also meet less resistance than one broad one, which is why a power catamaran will often travel further on the same fuel than a monohull of its size.

Performance Cruising

Cruising yachts that are quick, rather than racers with berths in them. A boat is listed here when it is a sailing yacht, not a pure racer, has at least two cabins, and either carries the performance-cruiser type or shows a sail-area-to-displacement ratio of 25 or more. The textbook bands -- 16 for a cruiser, 16 to 20 for a cruiser-racer, above 20 for a performance boat -- are measured on the 100% foretriangle; this catalogue measures upwind area including the genoa, and on the published fleet cruisers sit at a median of 21 and performance cruisers at 31, so the line is drawn at 25.

The catalogue holds no boat that meets both of these yet.
