Premium production
Australia's premium luxury motor yacht builder since 1980 — twenty-one current models in five collections from the 13.3-metre 395 SUV to the 24.8-metre 78 Motor Yacht, handcrafted at a 16.8-hectare site at Coomera on the Gold Coast for more than 6,000 owners worldwide.
Riviera launched with a single model, the 38 MKI, in Sydney in 1980, and moved the following year to the Gold Coast in Queensland with a staff of five, building eight boats that year. Through the 1980s a dozen models were designed, built and launched, and the first were exported to the United States and Europe. By the early 1990s three new models had won Modern Boating's Boat of the Year three years running. In 1998, with 280 people on the payroll, construction began on a new facility at Coomera, and many handcrafted models came out of it in the early 2000s, followed by awards and a growing international dealer network. In March 2012 Rodney Longhurst -- a Gold Coast developer, and a qualified builder and joiner by trade -- acquired the company; he is now chairman, and says his aim on buying Riviera was to make it one of the great names in boating. Under Longhurst and chief executive Wes Moxey the collections continue to be refined.
