About Mangusta

Semi-custom

Overmarine Group's Tuscan superyacht brand, founded by the Balducci family in 1985 and known for its fast open yachts — today three lines from 32 to 60 metres: Maxi Open, GranSport fast-displacement and Oceano displacement yachts, built at Viareggio, Pisa and Massa.

Mangusta was founded in 1985 by Giuseppe Balducci, founder of the Overmarine Group, who chose the name -- the mongoose, which defeats the cobra -- as a challenge to the established rules of yachting; the yard traces its roots to the 1950s and says the family, now in its third generation, still runs it. The Mangusta 80 of 1990, designed by Stefano Righini, is described as the first 80-foot open yacht and stayed in production until 2018; the Mangusta 105 of 1995 was the first with waterjets and a turbine, followed by the 72, 108, 92 and 130, and in 2007 the first Mangusta 165, at over 50 metres the largest open yacht in the world, reached 44 knots on three MTU engines. A metal-working yard opened at Pisa in 2012 for the new Oceano and GranSport lines; the first Oceano, the 42-metre Namasté of 2016, began the collaboration with Alberto Mancini, and in 2018 the GranSport 54 El Leon became the first Mangusta to circumnavigate the globe, over three and a half years and more than 50,000 miles. The 104 REV of 2021 began the work with Igor Lobanov, followed by the 165 REV and the Oceano 50, 44 and 39. Giuseppe Balducci died in 2024, the year the Pisa yard was doubled to 44,000 square metres, and in 2025 the company marked forty years with more than 300 yachts delivered.
