What this builder is
Wally stands for avant-garde, restless development and the conviction that form should follow function; since 1994, when visionary yachtsman Luca Bassani founded the company on the ideas he had tested in his family yacht Wallygator — carbon construction, a self-tacking jib, swept-back spreaders, flush decks, a forward owner's cabin — those principles have produced a roll-call of design and innovation: Nariida, the first all-carbon yacht; Genie of the Lamp, the 24-metre sloop one person can handle, which introduced push-button sail handling and the open deck; Tiketitan's Terrace-on-the-sea and canting keel; Magic Trim; the Wally Class of racing superyachts; and, on the power side, the wallytender and the vertical-bowed wallypower 118. Today Wally is a Ferretti Group brand, and its fleet is four wallytenders (43, 43X, 48, 48X), four wallypowers (50, 50X, 58, 58X), the wallywhy 100, 150 and 200, the wallynano 37 daysailer, the wallyrocket 51 and 71 racers, and the wallywind 110, 130 and 150 fast-cruising sloops by judel/vrolijk with Santa Maria Magnolfi. Every model page prints the Ferretti technical sheet — LOA, LH, LWL, beam, draft or lifting-keel range, unladen and laden displacement, tanks, people on board, engines and HP, speeds and range, cabins, classification, and on the sailing yachts the upwind and downwind sail areas, mast, rigging and designers.
Who sails them
Wally owners are design-literate owners who want the yacht that looks like nothing else in the harbour — Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern buyers of carbon dayboats and X outboards for 50-knot runs, families who want a wallywhy's volume without a conventional superstructure, and racing owners of the Wally Class who value carbon, push-button handling and Luca Bassani's clean lines.
Signature models
The wallypower 58 and the wallytender 48 are the modern carriers of the carbon-tender idea that opened Wally's power business; the wallywhy 200 is the flagship of the volume-yacht line; the wallywind 110 is the first of the new fast-cruising sloops; and the wallyrocket 51 puts Wally back on the race course.
Strengths
Wally is known for pioneering carbon-fibre construction and carbon masts, push-button sail handling and Magic Trim, self-tacking jibs and flush decks, the Terrace-on-the-sea and inside-outside living, vertical bows and glass superstructures on its motor yachts, RINA-classed builds through Ferretti Group, and a design language nobody mistakes.
Considerations
The X models print a standard and an optional engine side by side, so hp min/max, the higher max speed and the standard cruise speed and range are stored with the pairs noted; 'Engine HP' is one engine's rating and no engine count is given; 'People on board' is the certified persons figure; 'Classification B + F RINA' is read as CE category B; the wallywind 130 and 150 are project pages and the wallyrocket 71 prints no engine or displacement, so all three are announced models; the wallynano 37 prints its LOA including the bowsprit against an 8.5-metre hull; and no page prints a heads or berths figure for the tenders.

History
In 1991 the yachtsman Luca Bassani built a family yacht with the performance of a maxi, Wallygator -- carbon construction, a self-tacking jib, swept-back spreaders without running backstays, flush decks, a forward owner's cabin, and what the yard's timeline calls the first carbon mast in the world after the 1992 New Zealand America's Cup boat -- and in 1994 he founded Wally, launching the ketch Nariida, the first all-carbon yacht. Genie of the Lamp of 1995, a 24-metre sloop one person could handle, introduced push-button sail handling and the open deck; Tiketitan of 1998 pioneered the 'Terrace-on-the-sea' beach club and the first canting keel on a big cruiser, Wally B rethought interiors, and the Wally Class of 1999 grew into the largest fleet of racing superyachts. Wally entered power boats with the wallytender in 2001 and the wallypower118 of 2003, with its vertical bow and glass superstructure, which was shown at San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art in 2004, the year Tiketitoo won the Compasso d'Oro; Ryokan 2 won it again in 2008, and wallyace of 2012 moved the brand into displacement motor yachts. In 2019 Wally became a brand of the Ferretti Group, which relaunched the wallytender with the 48, opened the Casa Wally shipyard in Forlì in 2021 for the tender and power lines alongside the wallywhy200, and launched the wallypower58 in 2022.
