What this builder is

Prestige is a French builder of semi-custom luxury motor yachts, part of the Beneteau Group and built alongside Jeanneau, known for its F-Line flybridge cruisers, sportier S-Line, and more recently the X-Line and multihull M-Line. It occupies a premium-volume segment between mass-market production motor yachts and full custom superyachts, distinguished by innovations like the raised owner's cabin and 360-degree views.

Who sails them

Prestige owners are typically experienced private boaters buying flybridge or sport motor yachts in the 40-90 foot range for extended coastal and offshore cruising with family or small groups, valuing owner's suites and comfortable liveaboard-style accommodation rather than high-performance racing use.

Signature models

The PRESTIGE 500 was the brand-defining 'Icon' model that launched the second generation F-Line and introduced the owner's suite concept; the 750 became the flagship redefining size and luxury; and the X70 launched the new X-Line focused on villa-like living space aboard.

Strengths

Prestige is widely credited with spacious, well-lit interior layouts (notably the raised or main-deck owner's suite), a large and established European/international dealer network, and steady design evolution that has made models like the 500/520 series strong resellers.

Considerations

As a production-line builder within a large industrial group, Prestige yachts involve some standardization of design and construction rather than full custom builds, and buyers should weigh this against smaller boutique yards offering more bespoke finishes.

History

Prestige grew out of the Jeanneau shipyard, founded in 1957, and its first model appeared in 1989, followed by the first Prestige flybridge in 2000. A North American dealer network was set up in 2010 and by 2012 the brand had the largest dealer network in Europe. The 75-foot Prestige 750 of 2014 became the flagship, taking the 2014 World Yachts Trophies for layout and achievement and the 2015 European Power Boat of the Year; the 680 and 680 S of 2016 introduced the raised forward owner's cabin and made the 680 Motor Boat of the Year, and with the 560, 560S, 630 and 630S of 2017 the range ran from 40 to 75 feet for 4,000 owners worldwide. The 520 of 2018 became a best seller, the brand marked thirty years of yacht building in 2019, the X-Line was launched in 2020, the 690 became the F-Line flagship in 2021, the M-Line catamarans arrived in 2022 and the F4.9 and M8 in 2023.
