What this builder is
Sunreef Yachts tells its story through its founder and CEO Francis Lapp, born in France in 1958, who made his business in electrical equipment, discovered Poland through rallying, took up cruising catamarans in Madagascar and, when charter clients asked for larger and more comfortable boats, opened a shipyard in Gdańsk in 2002 — a city with long naval traditions and a skilled workforce. The 2003 Sunreef 74 CHE was, the yard says, the world's first oceangoing luxury catamaran with a flybridge, and the 2008 70 Sunreef Power its first double-deck power catamaran; today's range is the Sunreef 50 and the 60, 70, 80 and 100 Next sailing catamarans, the 100 Infinity, the 60, 70, 80 and 100 Sunreef Power Next motor catamarans, the Ultima 44, 55, 66, 77 and 88 motor yachts with the BRABUS Ultima 55, and superyacht concepts — the 49M Sunreef Power, the 40M Sunreef Explorer Eco and the 210 Sunreef Power Trimaran. Every model page carries a SPECIFICATION block in two tabs, Classic and Eco: length and beam overall, mainsail and genoa, design category, water and fuel capacity, naval architecture and design, engines, living space and, on the Eco tab, electric main engines, batteries, solar panels and range extenders. The company, Sunreef Venture S.A., builds at ul. Tarcice 6 in Gdańsk and shows at Cannes, Monaco, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Dubai and Singapore.
Who sails them
Sunreef owners are buyers of fully customised multihulls — private owners and charter operators who want a catamaran's volume and stability at 50 to 100 feet, choose between conventional diesel and the solar-electric Eco versions, and often commission bespoke interiors; the Ultima line brings the same clients a fast monohull day yacht, and the superyacht projects address owners looking beyond 40 metres.
Signature models
The Sunreef 80 in its Eco form is the brand's best-known yacht, with the 80 Sunreef Power its motor twin; the 2003 Sunreef 74 CHE founded the flybridge-catamaran idea, the Sunreef 100 Eco is the current flagship in the water, and the BRABUS Ultima 55 is the halo of the Ultima range.
Strengths
Sunreef is known for fully custom interiors and layouts on every hull, the Eco range's solar skin and electric propulsion, large living spaces (340 m² on the Sunreef 80), CE category A ratings across the Next range, in-house naval architecture and design, and a shipyard in Gdańsk that also produces the Ultima monohulls and superyacht projects.
Considerations
Each page prints two specification tabs; the Classic version is stored and the Eco tab's electric propulsion, batteries and solar figures are noted, so a single model stands for both versions of a hull. Fuel and water are often ranges or tank multiples — the standard (smaller) total is stored with the range noted. Ultima engines are printed as Volvo Penta IPS designations rather than horsepower, and the 100 Next and 40M Explorer Eco give kW only, so their hp fields are empty. The 49M Power, 210 Power Trimaran, 40M Explorer Eco and 100 Infinity are concept pages with renders and headline figures, entered as announced; the 37M, 43M, 45M, 50M and 65M Explorer pages print no specification block and are not entered. Displacement, draft and speed appear on only a few pages, and no CE category is printed on the sailing 50, the Ultimas or the superyachts.

History
Francis Lapp opened a shipyard in Gdańsk, a city with long traditions of naval construction, establishing Sunreef Yachts' production site and office there in 2002. In 2003 the yard launched the Sunreef 74 CHE, the world's first oceangoing luxury catamaran with a flybridge, which changed the philosophy of multihull design; the 70 Sunreef Power JAMBO of 2008, designed with Laurent Bourgnon, was the first double-deck power catamaran with oceanic range, and the Sunreef Ultimate line of high-performance sailing catamarans followed in 2010. Francis Lapp was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2013 World Yacht Trophies, the Sunreef Supreme 68 opened the Supreme range in 2016, and the yard marked fifteen years in 2017 as the Sunreef 88 Double Deck and 40 Open Sunreef Power collected Yacht Style awards in 2018 and 2019. In 2022 the Sunreef 80 Eco, the first yacht with Sunreef's solar skin, was launched and won the Gustave Trouvé Award, followed in 2023 by the German Innovation Award and Multihull of the Year.
