What this builder is

Quicksilver's own timeline begins in 1986, when Brunswick and Mercury started building Quicksilver inflatable boats in Europe; aluminium and fibreglass boats followed in 1993, the Commander series in 1995, and in 1999 Brunswick bought the French fishing-boat builder Arvor and sold its boats under the Quicksilver name. The Activ and Captur ranges arrived in 2010 together with a dedicated product development and engineering team of designers, engineers and a naval architect in Florida, and the boats went on to collect European awards — the 675 Open as European Powerboat of the Year in 2011, the 605 Open, 755 Sundeck and 805 Pilothouse among later winners. The 875 Sundeck flagship came in 2017, the production facility at Vila Nova in Portugal was expanded in 2021, the 805 Open of 2023 set the design direction the yard says future Quicksilvers will follow, and in 2026 the brand marked forty years with more than 300 dealers and distributors in 70 countries. The menu lists 28 boats in eight tabs; the Specifications tab of each page prints overall and hull length, beam, bridge clearance, weight without engine, draft, water and fuel tanks, maximum power, shaft length, persons, CE category and berths.

Who sails them

Quicksilver owners are European families, first-time buyers and holiday boaters who want an easy, sociable outboard boat for swimming, sunbathing and day trips — Sundeck and Open owners on the Mediterranean and the lakes, Cruiser and Weekend owners who want a cabin for a night aboard, anglers on the Pilothouse boats, and members of Freedom Boat Club's European clubs, for which the yard says Quicksilver is the main boat supplier.

Signature models

The 875 Sundeck, flagship since 2017, is the signature; the 805 Open introduced the design the yard says it will build on, and the 805 Pilothouse, a Best of Boats and Boat of the Year Japan winner, leads the fishing boats.

Strengths

Quicksilver is known for value — the yard says fantastic value — with boats designed and engineered by the Brunswick Group's engineers, a wide range of hull types from open boats to pilothouses, Smart Edition option packs and the Exclusive Deluxe Line on the cruisers, an online 3D configurator, a string of European boat-of-the-year awards, and a network of more than 300 dealers and distributors in 70 countries.

Considerations

The Specifications tab prints no standard engine, speeds, range, cabins or heads; `Maximum power` is the hull's maximum rating, entered as engine power only on single-engine hulls; weight is without engine. The 605 Open prints the same length, beam, draft and fuel tank as the 625 Open. Boats under about 6 metres — the 455, 555 Open, 475 and 525 aXess, 505 and 555 Cabin and 555 Bowrider — are not entered, the 905 Weekend is stored in its outboard build with the inboard figures noted, and no pictures are attached because Brunswick's terms of use restrict using its photographs.

History

Quicksilver dates itself to 1986, when Brunswick and Mercury began building Quicksilver inflatable boats in Europe. Aluminium and fibreglass boats followed in 1993 and the Commander series, which became iconic, in 1995; in 1999 Brunswick acquired the French fishing-boat builder Arvor and marketed its boats under the Quicksilver brand, and by 2005 the range had grown to ten categories and 37 models. The Activ and Captur ranges were launched in 2010, a turning point marked by a dedicated product development and engineering team of designers, engineers and a naval architect in Florida. Awards followed — the 675 Open as European Powerboat of the Year in 2011, the 705 Cruiser in 2013, the 755 Sundeck in 2016, the 605 Open in 2017 — and the 875 Sundeck flagship arrived in 2017. In 2019 the Venture Group was formed within Brunswick to share resources with Bayliner, and Quicksilver became the main supplier to Freedom Boat Club's European expansion; in 2021 the production facility at Vila Nova in Portugal was expanded. The 805 Open of 2023 set the stage for future Quicksilver design, the Exclusive Deluxe Line came to the cruisers in 2025, and in 2026 the brand celebrated forty years with more than 300 dealers and distributors in 70 countries.
