Design limits set by the EU Recreational Craft Directive (2013/53/EU), in significant wave height. A category covers the conditions of those below it. It is the limit the boat was designed to, not a promise that it is safe in any conditions within it — that judgement stays with the skipper.

Scandinavian builder of deep-V sports boats and superyacht tenders founded by Hugo Vold in 1966 — the SR yacht-tender line from the SR26 to the 24-metre SR77 and the 29 Huracán, 32 Grand Zonda, 34 Alizé and 40 Camira representation models — headquartered and built at Västervik on Sweden's Baltic coast, with more than 12,000 boats since.
Hugo Vold's father was a fisherman whose boats were all called Vindy and all of which brought him home through the storms of the Skagerrak. Vold founded Windy at Skarpnes on the Norwegian coast in 1966, named it after them, hired the best designers he could and sought out Scandinavia's finest craftsmen. The first generation of cabin and day cruisers, 22 to 30 feet, made the name across Scandinavia on seaworthiness and finish. The naval architect Hans Jörgen Johnsen then joined and drew the planing hulls the marque became known for, each named after one of the world's winds: Mistral, Ghibli, Bora, Scirocco. Windy later turned its experience to bespoke tenders and chase boats of superyacht quality; the Windy Dubois SR52 Blackbird made its mark at the Cannes Yachting Festival and was rated the world's best chase boat by Superyacht Magazine in 2015. A collaboration with Espen Øino brought a range of custom superyacht tenders from 7 to 24 metres and shaped the SR40, Huracán and Alizé, while Malcolm McKeon drew the award-winning SR60 and the coming SR77. Windy is built today at Västervik on Sweden's Baltic coast by more than 170 people, from 26 to 77 feet, with hulls in resin transfer moulding; the yard says seven in ten of all the boats it has ever built are still afloat.
