About Baglietto

Semi-custom

Italian yard founded at Varazze in 1854 by Pietro Baglietto and now part of the Gavio Group, building steel and aluminium superyachts at La Spezia and Carrara — the DOM, T and Fast lines and two Enrico Gobbi projects from 34.5 to 60.6 metres, plus full-custom yachts.

Pietro Baglietto founded the shipyard that bears his name at Varazze in 1854, as Italy was preparing to take its first steps as a nation; by 1860 it stood on Varazze beach. The timeline lists a boat for Pope Leo XIII in 1888, the first hydrofoil project with Crocco and Ricaldoni in 1906, and seaplanes and MAS boats from 1914. Famous owners follow: Cio Cio San for Giacomo Puccini (1911), Elettra for Guglielmo Marconi (1919), Alcyone for Gabriele D'Annunzio (1932) — who, according to legend, designed the seagull logo — Panda for King Vittorio Emanuele III and Queen Elena (1938) and Carostefal for Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly (1964). The yard built its first aluminium hull, 26 metres, in 1975; the 35-metre Adler (1987) is called the first Italian superyacht and Chato (1988) the most powerful yacht, at 60 knots, and Opus (1993) the largest open yacht ever built. The Gavio Group of La Spezia acquired CCN and then the Baglietto brand in 2010 (the same page says Baglietto joined the Gavio family in 2012), bought Bertram in 2015 and merged CCN and Baglietto in 2020. BZERO followed in 2021, the first hybrid T52 in 2023, a 170th-anniversary micro-museum in 2024, the first DOM133 Hybrid in 2025 and the launch of the first 60-metre yacht in 2026.
