What this builder is

Solaris Yachts is an Italian builder of semi-custom performance sailing yachts, founded in 1974 in Aquileia, known for collaborating with notable naval architects (Sparkman & Stephens, Doug Peterson, Bill Tripp, Javier Soto Acebal) over five decades. More recently the group has diversified into motor yachts through Solaris Power and acquired the CNB sailing yacht brand, expanding its portfolio beyond its traditional monohull sailing range.

Who sails them

Solaris buyers tend to be experienced sailors seeking high-performance cruising or racing-cruising yachts, often sailing with family or small crews for coastal and offshore passages, with some models also active in owner-driver regattas like the Solaris Cup.

Strengths

Solaris is recognized for high-performance sailing yacht design through long-running collaborations with respected naval architects, and for build quality associated with Italian semi-custom yacht construction.

Considerations

As a semi-custom Italian yard producing performance sailing yachts (plus a newer power line), Solaris sits at a premium price point with lower production volumes than mass-market builders, meaning higher cost and longer lead times than volume production brands.
