What this builder is
Sealine is a British-founded motor yacht brand, now owned by Germany's HanseYachts AG, known for flybridge cruisers and sport yachts blending British design heritage with German engineering. It occupies the upper-middle segment of production motor yachts, distinct from ultra-luxury flagship builders but above entry-level day boats.
Who sails them
Sealine yachts typically appeal to families and experienced private owners seeking coastal and short-range cruising with flybridge or sport cruiser comfort, often for weekend and holiday use rather than bluewater passages or heavy chartering.
Signature models
The 30 Fly (Sealine's first flybridge model) and 285 Ambassador were early best-sellers; the T60 was a milestone flagship as the brand's longest model; the F530 introduced the 'FlyLounge' concept as a modern flagship flybridge design.
Strengths
Sealine is generally credited with sturdy build quality, family-friendly spacious layouts, and a long track record of flybridge cruiser design refined through decades of British and later German engineering.
Considerations
As a mid-size builder now under HanseYachts AG, Sealine's range is narrower than larger volume rivals, and its production shifted from the UK to Germany, so buyers of older British-built hulls should weigh support/parts continuity against newer German-built models.

History
Sealine began in 1972 when the British aircraft engineer Tom Murrant, unable to find the family boat he had in mind, built a 23-foot cabin cruiser with his friends Frank Fish and Ray Walker at an airfield in Bobbington, Staffordshire, then withdrew £500 from his life insurance to found Fibrasonic Marine Ltd. The 1973 oil crisis pushed the young company into subcontracting to survive; after moving to Kidderminster it built its first C-LINE weekender within six weeks, and the C-LINE name gave way to Sealine as Murrant set out to build elegant family motor yachts, with the 30 Fly, the first flybridge, and the 285 Ambassador as early best sellers. Sealine entered the US market at the end of the 1980s and by the 1990s ranked among the 'Big Four' British motorboat builders; after a US$45 million venture-capital acquisition under Gerard Wainwright it was sold three years later to Brunswick Corporation for US$68 million, which embedded luxury in the brand and launched the T60, its longest model. Oxford Investment Group took over in 2011 after the financial crisis, and in 2013 HanseYachts AG acquired the marque, which is now built in Greifswald.
